Joseph Williams, the son of John Williams, the legendary film composer and actress Barbara Ruick from 1950s, is now replacing Fergie Frederiksen as lead singer. In 1999, the band released Mindfields and embarks on an extensive tour around the world. After several weeks in Europe the band travels to Japan for sold-out shows. After a short hiatus, Toto resumes their recording and release their first live album, Absolutely Live in 1993. This includes a cover version of Weezer's hit song Hash Pipe as a response to the band's coverage of Africa during their recent tour. Toto's touring band includes drummer Lenny Castro and bassist Shannon Forrest along with keyboardist Shem Von Schroeck.
