Types of UPVC Door Handles

Lever/Lever

A lever is a rigid rod that pivots around an object. When you apply a force at the end of the lever, it is likely to cause it to turn the fulcrum to the direction of the applied force. However, levers don't create energy. They just multiply the force you exert by changing a small amount of effort applied over a long distance into a larger amount of force applied over a shorter distance. Levers are used to lift heavy objects and transport massive quantities of cargo. The lever principle is utilized in everyday tools like crowbars. Hammer claws fishing rods, hammer claws, and your own legs, when you are standing on your car's hand brake.

Lever/Pad

Lever pad handles, also known as upvc door handles have levers on each side to operate the multipoint locks. They are available in various finishes and variations and can be used on a wide range of materials such as UPVC doors, aluminium window handle doors & Timber Doors. They are sold in pairs for the inner and outer door with spindles & screws included. They are available in unhanded and handed versions to suit different users.

They are typically used for new constructions and are fitted to replace doors made of upvc. The levers are lowered to open all the multipoint locks, and the key is turned to close or unlock the door. They are more secure when compared to lever handles for doors because the locking function can only be gained via the inside using an open key, unless the door is locked.

They're not as secure as a cylinder bolt but are an affordable alternative to add security. The only downside is that they do not offer the same level of protection as a cylinder bolt and therefore don't stop external door handles and locks access in the event that the door has been left open.

This is achieved by the 'pad'-shaped external handle which locks in the gap between the handles and the lock case to stop the latch from being withdrawn or the door being opened.

This handle is designed to be used with uPVC multipoint locks that employ split spindle mechanisms. This type of operation requires the lever handle and the external pad handle to be fitted to the same lock case. It could be a simple replacement of the current uPVC handle, however it could also require a change in the lock case or a brand new set to handle furniture.
